Hi, Mr Dancy was up this morning at 7:15,after a trip to the bathroom he was ready for breakfast. around 9:40 we headed down to senior services,I picked him up at 3:54. after
returning to Mr Dancys home, i picked his supper up from the dining room at 5:30,he had a
good supper and ate 100% of his meal. I assisted him with his shower this afternoon and he
also had a sitz bath and backrub.He is relaxing by the tv at this time .Ilene

Hi, Mr Dancys day started at 6:45 am, after a trip to the bathroom,Mr Dancy was ready for
breakfast. we went for a walk around 9:15 and later looked at photographs and worked on a
word search. He had all of his meals and medications and seemed to have a good day.Ilene

Hi, Mr Dancy was up early this morning,around 6:30,He wanted to watch tv until time for
breakfast.I helped him get ready to go to the salem dining room for the ''mens breakfast''
We left at 8:30 and returned at 10:45.His activities for the day are....walking,conversation,
breakfast at the dining room and bible study at the model home.he had his meals and medication and is relaxing by the tv.Ilene

Hi, I picked Mr Dancy up at senior services at 3:57.Mr Dancy had supper around 5:30,he seemed a little confused this afternoon,after supper he seemed more calm and went into the
living room to watch tv.Mr Dancy complained that he needed to have a bm,so i gave him prune
juice and it gave him relief,I also gave him his shower afterwards and he said that he felt better.He had his supper and medication and is now watching tv.Ilene

Hi, Mr Dancys day started with a good breakfast and later in the morning i took him to senior
services.I picked him up this afternoon around 3:40.Stopping at Mr Dancys home to change
Him and take him to Salem Dining for cheese and wine.His menu incuded....white wine,cheese
And crackers,turkey pie,mashed potatoes,cooked carrots,bread,fruit,ice cream,cake,chocolate
Pudding and water,he ate 95% of his meal.He had his medication and is relaxing by the tv.Ilene

Dad's Visit with Dr. Reifler

Dr. Reifler came by today to see Dad, accompanied by a reporter from Raleigh News & Observer. The doctor had gotten a promotion and so the paper wanted to do a story on his visits with patients. So he asked if he could visit with Dad.

I came by to greet the doctor and nurse educator. He asked a few questions about Dad and the navy. Dad said he had mostly served on cruisers. How they had 18"? guns. The doctor asked about the difference between cruisers, ? and destroyers in terms of sizes. Dad explained this easily. However when the doctor asked how many sailors there was on a cruiser Dad started wringing his hands a bit, but finally said 3500 men (I don't ever recall him saying this--it is probably something hard to remember!).

Then I went to the back room with the nurse educator and she talked with me and Ilene about communicating with Alzheimers patients. She left a couple of booklets to look at. She also said she might mail some activity sheets as well.

Dad continued to talk with Doctor in private for a few minutes.

The educator said they might start Dad on anti-depressant but want to wait and see if Karen the PA could come out and do an evaluation as well before they prescribed one (She came out a month ago as well). They had increased his Namenda last week to 2x a day. He seems slightly better---not sure why, just a gut feeling.

Dad flattered me by saying "I know everything", I said "I love hanging out with this guy!"

When they were leaving the reporter said he would send a copy of the article when it comes out.

Hi, Mr Dancy had a nice quiet day,He was up early this morning around 7:am. After breakfast
I took him down to the assisted living for exercise,but they had cancelled out.We went for a walk there and later Mr Dancy had lunch.His activities for the day are....conversation,word search
puzzle,watching sports on tv and went for another walk in the afternoon.He had his medications
for the day and all of his meals,eating 100%.ilene

Hi, I picked Mr Dancy up at senior services around 3:57,We returned here at Mr Dancys' home
At 4:25. He had a good supper eating 95% of his meal. I assisted him with a shower,back-rub
And,sitz bath ,shave and oral care.He had his medication and is now relaxing by the tv.Ilene

he ate a good breakfast ,around 10:15 we caught the bus up to the construction site at homestead hills for the ceremony and outdoor lunch.Cathy joined Mr Dancy and i there for the
ceremony and lunch,he really enjoyed that.later we went for a walk and Mr Dancy watched
some tv,he seemed a little tired, napping on and off during the evening. he had all his meals
and medications and is now in bed.Ilene

Hi, I picked Mr Dancy up at senior services at 4:pm,We arrived back here at Mr Dancys' home
around 4:25. He ate his supper at 5:30 and had his medications and is now resting in his favorite chair watching tv.Ilene Simmons

Dad went to Symphony

Not only did Dad say he wanted to die, but that he WOULD die that evening. However, he has always been predicting his death (in the last 20 years), so I tried to cheer him up by reminding him of that. Also I said that I would miss him, that I needed to take care of him, that he is a good example to other people, etc. I hope it helped him!

Dad and I attended the symphony on Sunday afternoon. I was able to get an inexpensive senior ticket in the handicapped area (with individual chairs) at the Stevens Center.

Dad did not have much reaction to the music, but he said he enjoyed it. And it was a nice walk (about a block). I may take him to the New Years Pops concert next year.

During the weekend I worked on the jigsaw puzzle, and watched Dad. We are eating more in the dining room so that we can watch TV. Also since Dad stays at the table for a while after I am finished eating, I can be in the same room with him and it seems more friendly.

Dad's Visit from the Go Program

The physician's assistant came to visit Dad today. She asked Dad some memory questions. She asked him to name some animals. He mentioned polar bear twice, bear, some others, then said Christmas Tree. twice He mentioned places he lived, Norfolk, Chicago, Washington. He said he liked Washington the best. The doctor may increase his Namenda. She said a normal dose was 2x a day. (He takes one dose a day). She also watched how he walked and seemed to think he walked fine.

It was a nice visit. The PA will come back again in six months.
