Hi, I picked Mr Dancy up at senior services at 4:pm,We arrived back here at Mr Dancys' home
around 4:25. He ate his supper at 5:30 and had his medications and is now resting in his favorite chair watching tv.Ilene Simmons

Dad went to Symphony

Not only did Dad say he wanted to die, but that he WOULD die that evening. However, he has always been predicting his death (in the last 20 years), so I tried to cheer him up by reminding him of that. Also I said that I would miss him, that I needed to take care of him, that he is a good example to other people, etc. I hope it helped him!

Dad and I attended the symphony on Sunday afternoon. I was able to get an inexpensive senior ticket in the handicapped area (with individual chairs) at the Stevens Center.

Dad did not have much reaction to the music, but he said he enjoyed it. And it was a nice walk (about a block). I may take him to the New Years Pops concert next year.

During the weekend I worked on the jigsaw puzzle, and watched Dad. We are eating more in the dining room so that we can watch TV. Also since Dad stays at the table for a while after I am finished eating, I can be in the same room with him and it seems more friendly.

Dad's Visit from the Go Program

The physician's assistant came to visit Dad today. She asked Dad some memory questions. She asked him to name some animals. He mentioned polar bear twice, bear, some others, then said Christmas Tree. twice He mentioned places he lived, Norfolk, Chicago, Washington. He said he liked Washington the best. The doctor may increase his Namenda. She said a normal dose was 2x a day. (He takes one dose a day). She also watched how he walked and seemed to think he walked fine.

It was a nice visit. The PA will come back again in six months.

Dad did fine last weekend. We went out to dinner on Saturday and had swordfish with bean salsa. Dad did not eat much of the fish, but he ate his carrots and cake and some of his salad.

However on Sunday he developed an uncontrollable diarrhea. Bettie stayed with him in the afternoon and he had another episode then. Later that evening he had a third episode. Dad said he wanted to die. But he did not look in any pain; however, the diarrhea must have been burning to say the least. (there must be something going on--I have an achiness in my abdomen as well, not sure if it is related or different, but I didn't have diarrhea, but constipation).

I did not give him his Senna last night, may withhold it one more evening.

He is eating okay this morning. Maybe I will serve him some chicken noodle soup for lunch. I am keeping him home from Senior Services to make sure he is alright.

Dad's Weekend

We had a nice weekend. We ate dinner at the dining hall on Saturday: Chicken, sweet potatoes and vegetables. They had strawberry shortcake for dessert. I liked it so much I fixed strawberries with biscuits on Sunday!

On Sunday we went to Church then Bettie stayed with Dad while I went jogging. Later we just sat and watched some shows on TV. I had to turn on the air conditioning.

Dad went to the Dermatologist today and had some pre-cancerous spots near his right ear froze. He will go back again in July.

Dad's Weekend

Dad and I went to the K&W Cafeteria on Sunday. We had to stand in line a long time but I enjoyed watching the people. Dad had turkey, dressing, rice and salad. I had the roast beef, broccoli, rice and salad.

Then we went to my house so I could clean up a bit and Dad watched some golf. Then we went home and had some leftovers from the dining hall along with a chicken egg roll that I brought over.

Jennie called on Sunday to make sure she had all the information she needed for Dad's tax return.

Easter Weekend

Dad and I went to the Easter Mass on Sunday. The whole church was full! But by the end the seating at the back was more roomy!

We went to Jason and Ashley's house and Grandpa gave Collin an Easter Basket. Then I went outside with Collin and helped him find the boiled eggs. Then I hid the plastic ones and he had fun finding them. Collin's other grandfather Irwin hid some candy as well, a lot around Jason't car!

Then Ashley and her sister Jennifer prepared a brunch with Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, a variety of muffins, sausage gravy, fried potatoes, Monkey bread, French toast casserole, fresh pineapple and strawberries! Dad wasn't eating much, but just let him sit and he finally finished the whole plate!

We then went home and had some food from the dining hall: lamb, sqaush, green beans, Mashed potatoes. Dad picked at his food, but when we went back to his house he had some mixed nuts and chocolate.

Dad's Weekend

It was a fairly quiet weekend. I worked on the jigsaw puzzle while Dad watched the basketball.

On Sunday we went over to my house. Dad did not eat too well on Sunday though he did try everything, just didn't eat very much. He did manage to finish the ice cream in the evening though.

At the dining hall on Sunday a man came over and talked about his service in the merchant marines in WWII and asked about the size of the Destroyers that Dad served on. Dad didn't say much but he obviously enjoyed the conversation.

and i would let him know the breakfast time.He went back to bed around 5:30 and slept until 7:45.The nurse came
by this afternoon to give Mr Dancy his b-12 shot.she said that he was doing fine,he had a good blood pressure 122/70.

Dad Weak Today

Dad has been in bed all day. Every time I try to help him up he just falls back into bed. He is hurting but I don't know what exactly.

He didn't eat dinner, just some pecan pie and nothing today, just water.

I left a message for Dr. Lichstein. Also the nurse did not come last week--I thought she was scheduled to come. I called the Bayada nurses and Barbara was going to call Theresa and find out what is going on.

Ilene should be here. She can monitor him tonight and see if he improves. I also asked Suzie to drop by after work if she is up to it.

Drive with Dad

I drove down to see Jason's new house with Dad (about 60 miles). Jason wasn't home--out getting his TV screen fixed. One of the remote controls for the Wii system got thrown at the screen and tore it a bit. I guess those games can get violent! It is nicely sodded in the front with straw in the back that will hopefully grow grass really soon. Inside it is airy and nice with a small bedroom next to front door that will be used for computer room. There is a nice master bath with a very large tub! Not sure if it is a hot tub or not. The toilets are lower than Dad's though, so he was surprised when he started to sit down. I was too!

When we got back Dad was too tired to get up and eat dinner. He barely ate 1/2 of a pecan pie. I hope he is okay. Maybe he is coming down with flu or just tired, not sure.

I hope the ride did not tire him; I thought he would enjoy the change of scenery. Oh well.

Dad Talks About Mom

Dad wanted to know where Mom was. He had just talked to her yesterday! Anyway it was a difficult conversation, because he kept getting his words mixed up but anyway after a while he went back to the couch and said how "embarrassed" he felt that he had forgotten Mom had died!

Dad seemed a little depressed and I was really tired from helping Jason and Ashley pack, so I didn't get Dad off to bed like I should have. He spent the night in the chair. I woke up at 4 am and was more energized to get Dad ready for bed. Then I went back to bed as well and he and I both slept soundly for 4 hours.

I am making fried eggs and bacon this morning for a change from cereal. I like to do that once a week.

Hi, Mr Dancy slept throughout the night without getting up.I got him ready to go to senior services this morning.he had a good breakfast and seemed to be in a cheerful mood .I picked him up this afternoon,when we arrived back at mr Dancys' home i gave him an early shower he had soiled his clothing due to loose stools.He doesnt seem to be having any discomfort from having his teeth pulled.I gave him the cold pack and the warm pack and also rinsing with the
salt water.He was alert today and engaged in conversation.He had all of his meals and medications and i will
continue to monitor him for anything unusual concerning his trip to the dentist.Ilene Simmons

Hi, Mr Dancy was up one time last night to go to the bathroom and back to bed.He was up this morning around 7:45
He ate a good breakfast and later in the morning we went for a walk,He walked longer this time,it was warm and
sunny, he enjoys walking when it is warm.He didn't seem to be in any discomfort from getting his teeth pulled .......
However i continued giving him the salt water to rinse with and also i applied the warm pack as instructed to the

Dad This Weekend

Dad woke up in the middle of the night. He came in my room. He decided to sit in the chair for a while. When I woke up this morning he was back in bed.

I will be taking Dad to the dentist this morning to have his loose tooth looked at.

Dad was doing okay on Friday night.

Saturday morning, I asked him to floss. He was reluctant so I started the process. I noticed that his right bottom front tooth was loose. So, I called the dentist and he will come in on Monday morning.

Dad's Weekend

Dad had a nice weekend.

Bettie watched Dad on Saturday so I could go to exercise class. When I got back home Dad was already asleep at 8 p.m.

On Sunday we went to church. Afterwards we had the buffet at the dining hall. Dad was mad when I suggested he eat his dessert. So I decided it was time to leave. We spent the afternoon watching football and playing miniature bowling with Collin at my house. Then a pizza dinner and cake for dessert.

Dad got up about two in the morning and came to my room. He talked about something and finally went back to bed.

Today Dad goes to Dr. Southard, dermatologist to check his skin for pre-cancerous growths. Then to Senior Services for the day.
