Post-mortem brain autopsy

Barb and I were able to complete arrangements with USC's neuropathology lab today so that we can have a brain autopsy report and diagnosis for Dad when he dies. We discussed this quite some time ago, but I had never followed through the complete process. The report will hopefully tell us if Dad really did have Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia. It can also, perhaps, be useful for the rest of the family as a medical history.

Sounds like a good idea,! Dad had the opportunity to get a brain scan in 2003 (before nursing home) after a visit with Dr. Johnston, but we passed on it because it seemed fairly obvious after his "memory test". After which I was left mentally exhausted.

I might have wanted to be consulted as health care POA, but I am sorta glad you were able to figure this out without my input, as it would have been a toss-up as to whether consulting with me would be worth the trouble, both from my point of view (and I am sure from your point of view).

I'm sorry, Cathy. I was sure we had discussed this with you about a year or so ago, and that's why I didn't think to consult you this time. It was when I was in California and we had a few telephone conversations. I discussed it with everyone else at the same time, and they all agreed. I'm glad you agree that it is a good idea.
